What Is Keyword Density and Why Does It Matter?
Keyword density is the percentage of times a specific keyword appears in a piece of content relative to the total word count. It's one of the oldest on-page SEO metrics, dating back to when search engines primarily used keyword frequency to determine relevance. While modern SEO has evolved far beyond simple density analysis, keyword density remains a useful quality-control metric. Too low means you may not be clearly signaling your topic to search engines. Too high means you risk keyword stuffing penalties. The goal is natural, purposeful usage within the 1–2% sweet spot for primary keywords.
